Love tuna, salmon and crab, but am somewhat skeptical of the stuff you can obtain in the supermarket due to all of the warnings out there about the poisons and toxins that may be in fish.
As a result, I have lately been looking into getting my salmon and tuna from some of the smaller canneries that are based out of Alaska. Prices look like they are roughly 1/2 to 1/3 more expensive than what you would find in the Supermarket, but given that I probably only eat this stuff once or twice a month, I don't have an issue paying extra for something that might be better tasting and better for you. |

Your supermarket doesn't say where it comes from? They must list where the product is from.
You could also ask the guy behind the counter. I asked about some Mahi filets and he showed me the box they were shipped in. |

View Quote Depending on who is working the counter not all the time, but I am also talking about the pouches of tuna and salmon you can buy from bumblebee, chicken of the sea, etc.. which i will often use for a quick lunch |

There is a local fish farm we use. We can get Bass, Catfish, and tilapia.

Steamed shrimp, tuna in sushi, and an occasional crab cake sandwich is about the only seafood I eat. I don't eat anything from China. Beyond that, I don't care.

flounder, red drum, speckled trout, bluefish, spanish mackerel, mullet. I catch them from the ocean, sounds, and rivers
walleye and perch are caught by people from back home in MI and given to me when I make it back there. I will never buy fish from a store. Not because of some idealogical reason, its just that I'd rather go out and catch it. Same thing with red meat. Very rarely will I buy beef, and if I do, its just ground beef. Everything else comes from deer I kill. |

Local farmers market has an awesome selection.
I ususally go for the Scottish farm raised Salmon, for 10.99lb it is the best salmon I ever had. They get Cod, Trout, Grayling all kinds of good stuff, none of that Basa or Tilapia bullshit.

I get flash frozen tuna from the supermarket. Slow thaw it, rub it with black pepper, cook it rare, drown it in ponzu sauce and serve it with raw onion. It is actually pretty good.
No problems so far, except for a persistent facial tick and some numbness in the extremities from nerve damage. |

Salmon, halibut, tuna, catfish, perch, and Kokanee caught by myself and family. Never have bought fish. Always caught it.

If my day on the water is more drinking and less catching, I eat whatever the store has.

There are a couple of guys that sell fish out of a freezer in the back of a pickup. They don't exactly give off the most professional vibe so the first time buying was a real leap of faith. Turned out their product was quality and we have since bought fish from them many times. They travel around and sell door to door so if you are not home when they come you're out of luck. Tuna and scallops are my favourite.

Star-Kist, Bumblebee, Chicken of the Sea.
Canned tuna is the only fish I eat, and shrimp the only waterbug. |

Perch, Lake Michigan and local small lakes. Caught by customers. I haven't had a chance to get out this year, yet.

Redfish today. Flounder later this week. Not fresh caught because i don't live on the coast and i hate that.

Red salmon. From my brother. He caught so many salmon dipnetting he has no space in his freezer. Filleted it yesterday, will bake it tonight.

My local market lists the country of origin and if it was wild caught or farm raised. I stick to wild caught US fish if I'm buying.

I only eat fish that I catch.
Bluegills from my friends farm pond. Hatchery stocked rainbow trout from ponds and lakes around here. White and yellow perch, croakers, rockfish, spot, redfish, and catfish from the Chesapeake and other rivers and creeks around here. I also catch my own crabs. But I do buy shrimp from the store because we just don't have them here. |

Grouper and Cobia out of Homosassa, Florida. Dolphin out of Marathon, Florida. Be on the lookout for fish from openblue.com they are open ocean farm raising Cobia in Miami and it is decent quality. It's already in Publix supermarkets around here.

Crappie, catfish and bluegills...all caught by me on local lakes and rivers.
I don't have to buy any fish.

Had a few 1lb tilapia I pulled out of my Aquaponic system this weekend. They made excellent fish tacos!

I am putting some Gulf Coast Whiting on the grill this evening.
Place them on a bed of onions and pour lemon juice all over them and then wrap them up in aluminum foil. Emmm good!! Caught them a few weeks ago in Galveston bay. |

Sand bass, crappie, and blue catfish caught by my family and friends in local lakes. Cod fillets from the local butchers shop on occasion but heck if I know where they are from.

Tonight I shall dine upon croaker taken from the Chesapeake bay. Was hoping for a flounder in the mix but no such luck.

Out of local lakes, rivers, or creeks. If you buy frozen fish from a store, and think it's just fine, you're doing it wrong.

Generally whatever I catch from fishing. Usually flounder, speckled trout, grouper, snapper, redfish, drum, mahi, or tuna.

From the store, usually just tuna. But we go to the coast pretty frequently and often have fresh seafood while we're there.

Frozen Hake loin fillets from Costco. Great taste and texture. They are vacuum sealed so store in the freezer forever.
We usually brown them in butter then put atop a salad. |
