(Maj.) John Plaster...I have a relative that worked with him in SE Asia. The story I was told asserts that Plaster is a lowlife POS, a charlatan, liar, and a shameless thief of grandiose proportions. He spent 90% of his time on RT Cali writing his own fictitious awards, and without direct support, couldn't load his own mags.

Fanboys can be pissed, and no, I can't provide bona fides to back the claim, but that's the way I heard it.

You heard wrong, my friend. And no, Plaster did not spend most of his time on RT California. He was on New Mexico, Illinois, was a straphanger on Doug Miller's team, Vermont, for a few missions, ran California while Joe Walker was working in Laos with the Agency, then went to RT Hawaii. And after all that, he flew Covey Rider for most of his third tour.

Sounds like somebody's got an ax to grind.

There's literally audioclips on the internet of plaster in pretty heavy contact. You can tell it's him because his voice is annoying as fuck.

Yeah I think you're referring to the day David Mixter was KIA in Laos and Plaster, as a Covey Rider, had a dual Prairie Fire situation to sort through. Bad fucking day. RIP, Lurch.

Yeah, because that's how one gets put into the SF Hall of Fame.

The members are inducted because in part :

"These recognized individuals serve as role models, advocates and public examples to all members of the regiments. Through their sterling example, they enhance unit morale, cohesion and esprit, and promote the war-fighting ethos, unwavering sense of pride and selfless service of today's Soldiers."

http://www.soc.mil/swcs/RegimentalHonors/SpecialForces.htm

You groundless assertions without "bona fides" not only insults Maj. Plaster but all of the past and current members of U.S Special Forces.

You should go post your blathering over here:

Incase any of y'all are interested, I was a guest on the Global Recon Podcast today along with my friend, former SOG recon One-Zero Mike Stahl. We fielded questions about SOG, and Nate from @ruckingraiders was on talking about the 770-mile ruck march he helped coordinate in honor of the seven Raiders from 2nd MSOB and the four aviators lost last year down in Florida.

My friend Mike Stahl, far right, with A-102 teammates in RVN, 1967. This tour was prior to him joining SOG in 1970 where he became One-Zero of RT Michigan until he was WIA on 8 August 1970 in Laos, and medevac'd CONUS and medically retired.

What was the reaction like when the Army decided to give their black beret to everyone?

The Paraglide sent a SP4 chick out to interview the First Sergeant who ran 82nd Pre-Ranger Course.

He was a guy who did his time in Battalion, then went to the Unit, and was injured on a HALO jump, was doing his 1SG time while healing.

She had gotten all friendly with him from a previous gig, so she thought it would be the normal and cordial type of conversation she was accustomed to.

"So, what's your take on the Army issuing everyone black berets, 1SG?"

His response was colored with a very angry tone, as he transformed back into Batt Boy.

"You can put a turd in a suit, but it's still a turd."

She was shocked at how candid he was, and said something about everyone now being able to wear an elite distinctive headgear together, blah blah.

He told her that was his opinion, now get out of his office.

General Shinseki was not well-liked after that stunt.  They also contracted some sweat shops in China to make the berets, which drew a lot of interest once Congress found out.

Shinseki went on to head the VA, and we all know how that worked out.

Good on the 1SG, that was bullshit taking the Black Beret from the Rangers.

I grew up with the guy in the 2nd pic... 3rd from the front. His mom & dad were like 2nd parents growing up in Illinois. Always was a bad ass, went into the USMC and I think went Recon before getting out and joining Triple Canopy in N. Iraq where I ran into him, and then he switched over to Guard SF.

I went to HS and college with one of those guys. He was a phenomenal athlete, and I'm pretty sure he had a decathlete scholarship. I've asked his brothers how he was doing after he got hurt, but they were mum. Google says went back over to Trashcanistan and still kicking ass.
