What was the first thing you made sure to change when you moved out on your own? For me...and this is weird, I know... my mom would always buy that damn glycerin soap. The kind that doesn't foam at all or smell good. She always claimed to be allergic to smells, so we couldn't have anything else in the house.
The day I moved out, I bought myself a giant bottle of super-foamy, yummy smelling body wash. It is the one thing I always have in the house to this day. |
Wearing clothes around the house, I didn't have to when I got my own place. I can also masturbate where I want and I don't have to hide my cockring collection.
Peanut butter. It was my favorite food when I was very young, but my little brother turned out to be severely allergic to it.
The first thing I bought for myself when I moved out was a jar of it, and a loaf of bread. |
I smoked in the house instead of outside.
I watched porn whenever I wanted to. And of course, I did everything in the nude. |
Didn't mix the leftover speghetti noodles and leftover sauce together. Kept them separate.
Didn't vaccuum. Doesn't do anythign that a paint roller accross the carpet can do. And yes, the porn thing. |

Naked time was all the time.
Built a pyramid out of beer cans. Hid a gun in every room of the apartment. Bought glass glasses (mom always had plastic) Watched porn on full volume. |

My parents wouldn't let me grow facial hair in high school. If I shaved and intentionally left a goatee they'd make me go back and fix it. A couple days before I left for college I shaved then let myself get a little scruffy. As soon as I was all moved in I went straight to the sink and shaved my face––all but a goatee.

AC set to 77 instead of 79-80. Pants are now optional. Peeing with the bathroom door open is convenient, as is walking back to my room naked.
For several years I didn't clean up after myself. I kept the trash thrown away, but I had little projects and clothes pretty much strewn through the entire house. Growing up everything was clean and organized to the point of OCD, now I've found a middle ground.

fuck, it's been 36 years ago, I honestly can't even remember back that far

Develop an appreciation of Martinis.
Bombay Sapphire, extra dry, olives. I make an excellent Martini. I rarely drink them any more, but whenever I do it tastes like freedom. |
Food. I experimented with food, a LOT. Instead of ground beef based spaghetti, I made real marinara. No over-cooked veggies either, spinach with sauteed garlic and lemon juice and not that boiled for hours tasteless stuff. Pizza with anchovies. Bratwurst. Eggplant. Brussels sprouts. Fava beans. Blood-rare steaks.

Moved in with a buncha guys, but these really 4 uncool guys harrassed us all the time and made us do all kinds of stuff like making beds and excercises and walking in lines while they yelled at us, and standing in lines while yelled at us, and running while they yelled at us. They would just never leave us alone.
Fapping was out of the question, they made us all take showers together and the toilet stalls had no doors. They even made people walk around all night to make sure you couldn't fap. Apparently fapping causes fires since they called the guys walking around Fire Watch. |

Worked a lot more, and put most of my paycheck in the bank. Wish I could say the same for now...

Laying drunk on the living room floor in a pool of my own vomit and urine.

Mom was a neat freak. EVERY item of clothing had to be clean, folded, and put in a drawer somewhere.
I'd just wash the things and leave them piled on a chair and use them as needed. |
I went from living with mommy and daddy to the USMC. There were a few changes in my lifestyle as a result. |
When I got my own place, I definitely noticed I wore pants less often...
That changed again when I bought a house, and can be seen from the sidewalk... |

That's the way to go! Dressers and closets are over rated. If its wrinkly just wear it for about an hour before you leave and it will look fine. |

I traded my parents for a ridiculously evil pair of drill sergeants. So pretty much everything was changed for me.
the first time I took a crap with the door open was a very liberating feeling...
Not too much...I honestly have never lived alone, unless you count BOQs. When I left home to go in the Army, I rented a furnished house with two other officers, so I didn't have the house to myself most of the time and didn't do anything like walking around naked. Shortly after I got out, I got married.
Yep, pooping with the door open with a clear line of sight to the TV in the livingroom so I wouldn't miss anything.
....and lots of porn. Never did get into the drinking thing though. Never cared spewing my stomach contents everywhere for some odd reason. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

+1 on clothing mostly optional.
Mom was a good cook, and I can be if I wasn't lazy. So my diet got simplified tremendously. |
I still play "ball in the house" or "orange" (ball-in-the-house with an orange), just because I was never allowed when I was a kid.

the first time I took a crap with the door open was a very liberating feeling... IT's still kinda weird doing that. When I moved out we had 3 fridges. 1 for condiments and 2 for beer and they were always fully stocked. Every time someone would show up they would bring a case with them so anything that got drank that night was replenished. Fun times.... We played fast and furious with wheel chairs, got so drunk one night we broke out the colored pencils and coloring books, barbecued all the time. Had handicapped races once. 2 guys in wheel chairs, 1 guy on crutches and 1 on a walker. |
Socks. Mom used to always chastise me for running out in the garage or on the concrete floor of the basement in my socks. Now I wear socks out to get the mail or on a walkabout through a damn swamp if I want to. Socks are cheap and I can get them as dirty and hole-filled as I want.

We always lived way out in the sticks when I was growing up.
I mean way the fuck out. No cable, no neighbors, no food delivery, no paved roads. I moved away to college, fairly large city, huge apartment complex with a shit ton of neighbors, restaurants of every type, and more than two TV stations. So.....hookers and blow is my answer. |
Actually interestind dream - I had these dreams where this guy would be coming for me and I'd be armed with a handgun with unlimited rounds. I'd unload on this guy and it wouldn't stop him and then the dream would end. I moved out of my parents house and I actually had a dream where I got that guy. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like a million bucks, thinking holy crap, I finally killed that guy.
Always felt like that dream was about control and how I gained it when I moved out of the parents. |

eat whenever and whatever cleaned when I felt like it, and nekid out of the shower to the bedroom or wherever my clothes was

Had handicapped races once. 2 guys in wheel chairs, 1 guy on crutches and 1 on a walker. I would stay up all night, watching tv or movies, listening to music as loud as I wanted too, playing video games, having sex wherever and whenever and not having to worry about making noise or getting walked in on. And yes the ever popular answer, walking around naked. |

Moved out of my parents house in town to the family almond orchard out in the sticks. I had 60 acres of total freedom and the nearest neighbor was about 2 miles away. Tried to wear out a 10/22. Damn near wore out an 870. First thing I did was build a campfire pit in the yard so when we partied, we had a nice fire Man, I miss that place. So much pie. If I had to say one thing that was awesome, it was pie all over the house. Couldn't do that at mom and dads
Pretty sure it was my address. And it wasn't into the basement!
Partied less, quit skipping school and quit drinking.
Clothes were definately optional at home. Give me a break it was my senior year in high school. |
Drank whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
Added 2 wheeled machines to my lineup Acrued quite a collection of liquor bottles to "decorate" the kitchen Clothing was optional Came and went as I pleased! "oh, you want to go hang out and get breakfast at 2am? ill be right down!" Watching TV was 100% about me and what I wanted (God I miss that now!) Bringing 'strange' home at all hours. If I dont feel like cooking there are 87 resteraunts within 5 miles (grew up in very small town) I didnt have to keep everything spotless (mother was a neat freak) Got inked Ah the good ol days! |
Stopped freaking out over missing bottle caps when I had parties.
