I am looking for the most comfortable combat style boot for long hikes. I want something that wont tare my feet up and can be work with torn up feet. It must be water proof not resistant and be good from -10 to 90 degrees farinheit.

I have a set of Danner USMC gortex and let me say WOW! They are comfortable, water proof, and the BEST boots I have ever owned. I cant wear these daily and bought them to wear while hunting.

I have worn Rocky Para Trooper boots which got wet easily and where not padded at all.

I have also worn 10 inch Corcoran Super Crazy Jump boots But once again leather inside was bad for long hikes, feet got wet in rain, and the boots looked good but functionally sucked.

I need a set of black boots that are as good or better than the Danner USMC boots. Is the Arcadia the best most comfortable combat boot? What grain gortex should I get for -10 to 90 degrees farinheit? Are there any Cons to getting steel toed?

Who is better than Danner if anyone? Corcoran in my opinion is quality but not the comfort that I need.

Also looking at Danner Fort Lewis and Danner Recon boots. Is Arcadia better than Fort Lewis and Recon? Is Arcadia as good or better than Danner USMC boots?

If Danner works, why look somewhere else?

I own several pairs of Danners. They are my work boots, hunting boots, hiking boots......

I've had Acadias and Ft. Lewis boots.

They were both seriously waterproof, but I would get Acadias again just because they're lighter.

Just curious, why combat style boots? Why not hiking style boots?

I have a pair of Danners and a pair of Oakleys and both are kick ass.

Get the lighter boot. Goretex is a water/wind barrier, not an insulator. I believe they insulate with anywhere from 100-600 grams of Thinsulate? My experience with insulated boots is they aren't pleasant over 80 degrees if your humping. The Goretex membrane won't keep up with my sweaty feet. Good wicking sox help but my feet still stay damp. Still much better than a non-breathable all leather boot though. If you are stationary on cold ground, 200 grams of thinsulate doesn't keep the cold out when it is 10 degrees or colder for me. Haven't found a boot yet that is great in the hot AND cold.

Danner makes good boots if they fit your foot.

Check out these for a great price. I know that they are not USA made and retreadable but the price is great.

Will the Acadias fit the same that the USMC Danners fit?

I have a pair of Danner Ft. Lewis "Go Devils". They are great, and I recommend them to everyone that asks.

However, they are quite heavy. Next time I will probably try the Acadias.

The Danner USMC Temperate boots fit me better than anything else so I hope the Acadias also fit that well. Should I go with regular tread or Virbram tread? Should I get uninsulated steel toe no insulation, 200, or 400 gram insulation? I want it to work from -10 to 90 degres F.

Unless you get forced to sit/stand stationary in very cold temps, don't get the heavy insulated Acadias. In 10 degree weather mine make my feet sweat. I love my boots, but the lining separated way too early in their life for my liking.

Not a whole lot of difference these days.

I want to go with steal toe to protect my feet. Will 200 g insulation be too much for 88 degree F weather?

I use Arcadia for above 50 degrees and Fort Lewis with 600 gr. for under 50
