Special Operations Breaching Axe Presentation - SHOT Show 2011
Special Operations Force Breaching/Combat Axe Support Raffle We need help supporting or Nation’s Elite Special Operations Forces. For the past few years, Master Bladesmith Dan Winkler has been engaged in a program that directly assists our serving Special Forces Operators. Since the beginning of operations in the Gulf, Dan has been making a "Breaching/Combat Axe” that has become the "signature” of one’s Unit identity and serves as a functional weapon used in the defense of freedom. (More information on the Axe's in the second post) As you see, these battle implements are custom made to the specifications of the units who deploy them and become a coveted part of the Operator’s kit. We here at ARFCOM have a long tradition of helping those who serve. With this in mind, we are proud to announce ARFCOM’s "Special Fund for our Special Operators.” In appreciation of a donation to this fund of at least $10.00, you will be entered into drawing to be eligible to win one of our growing prizes. (See below!) All money raised will go directly to the purchase of these Breaching/Combat Axes on behalf of those Operator’s serving in our most elite units. Every dollar raised will go towards this effort. This is a unique opportunity for those of us here at ARFCOM to directly assist our forces while in combat operations. Later, once our Operator’s separate from service, this weapon has previously and will become one of the most cherished mementos of their service in Special Operations. Should anyone like to purchase an axe that would be directly donated to an Operator in your name for the total purchase cost of $350, that will be an option as well. Tickets will be made available shortly as we add information on the current prizes. In addition, we are accepting additional prizes from any site vendors interested in helping with this endeavor. ABOUT THE LAMP Quoted: I'm in... wait I was already in..  I'm truly honored to have been asked to be a part of this, thanks Joe and Juan. GoatBoy mentioned wanting specs on the lamp so here they are. First off everything you see on the lamp is real AR 15 parts with the exception of the barrel. The base is 1/2" aluminum type II hard coat anodized black and then color filled white, the feet are .50 caliber shell cases compliments of FiftyCalAl.    It's a little dirty, sorry  Cam Pin on/off switch. The lamp socket (the thing the light bulb screws into) was also anodized and the harp and basket (parts that hold the lamp shade) were black zinc coated.  Yes that is a real Upper that was cut down for the lamp. You can see the LaRue Tactical Logo on the 7” LaRue rail and the Gas Tube.  The Lamp Shade Nut is an actual Leupold M3 Turret Knob.  Couple more pictures.   This is a picture of the lamp I did for Mark Fingar, the lamp shade on his is the same that will be used on the ARFCOM Lamp but it will not have the ring of dillos around the bottom unless the winner wants them.  |
