12/28 entry: found the 20" A2 barrel, still looking for the others
This will be an off-the-wall search.
As a sideline, I do handgun instruction. I have recently found a NEW sideline to my ORIGINAL sideline: teaching new and prospective AR owners the history, intricacies, care, and feeding of their new rifles. This website has been vital to this effort.
I have found those new to ARs have trouble comprehending (in some cases, even BELIEVING!) the tapered contours of the two military barrels. Some, who know of the old A1 contour, refuse to believe the A2 still has the same diameter UNDER the handguard. Explanations and pictures simply do not carry the day. My personal AR is an Hbar, so it does not really help on this issue.
I am looking for an A1 barrel AND 14.5" M4 barrels for my show-and-tell act. I hope to find them as inexpensively as possible! Barrel extensions, barrel nuts, front sight would be nice, but not vital. Shot-out, burned out, zapped out doesn't matter here; they will serve my purpose as teaching aids as long as the contours are visible and measureable.
These barrels would NEVER AGAIN be fired, but they would be useful in enlightening some new entrants into the AR experience.
Either purchase or trade for merchandise would be considered. Can anyone help me out?
