I just ordered three nylon spinning plates from ballistictec.com that I will be taking to the Albany gun club to shoot with my AR. I'm not sure how they will work, but they're cheap!! No splatter, reactive, cool!
They have a plate rack on the main range, at 25 yards for pistol caliber, and it's really fun.
Technically, you can't bring your own steel targets onto the main range, yet... any other target is OK.
The 'pistol' bays allow IPSC style practice with steel, and any pistol caliber (even rifles). I think they are working to change the rules to allow rifle calibers in the bays as well. Full-auto allowed.
They are really a friendly bunch, and don't look at you funny if you have an AR. I saw some guy there last week with a belt-fed somthing-or-other. They have full-auto shoots, and even a big full-auto weekend event each quarter.
I'll even bring you as a guest, show you around, and let you shoot. IM me.
