took this in last week, and it appears like new. I have not mounted it. It fits the Aimpoint red dot scope and is much more durable than the aimpoint factory one. The ggg mount even has a waterproof spare battery department. It is incredibly designed and is built like a tank. It will handle the aimpoint or any 30 mm tube red dot I would think. Here is what the web site says.
1. This is $130 shipped. NOTE: buy the ggg mount with the aimpoint nib listed below, and i will sell the ggg for $110. FREE SHIPPING.

In 1997 the U.S. Army adopted the Aimpoint Comp M ##### reflex sight for the M16A2E4 rifle and M4 carbine series. It was subsequently succeeded by the Aimpoint Comp M XD and new Comp M2, which features a better finish and longer battery life. Besides being a favorite of the military, it has become popular in civilian and law enforcement circles.
The best way to attach an Aimpoint Comp M XD or Comp M2 to the M16/AR15 flat top is by means of the GG&G standard Aimpoint ring, which was designed to maximize the Aimpoint’s tactical features. Manufactured from 6061 T6 billet aluminum and black hard-coat anodized, this ring is attached to the base by using a squeeze rail design incorporating a single elliptical thumbnut. There is also a square locking cross bar for recoil control. The ring body has a built-in insulated spare battery compartment with a spare Aimpoint battery cap. This is an important feature and it's located on the side of the ring for easy access. Our ring is extra wide so that only one is required. To clear the M16/AR15 front sight, the low-profile standard GG&G Comp M ring must be mounted on our Scout length FIRE system rail.

and, how does it work if not mounting on a flat top, and if you are using a gooseneck carry handle type mount? Here is what one dealer for ggg wrote when I asked:
I assume that you wanted to mount it in front of the carry handle, in this case you will still see part of the front sight with the Aimpoint installed. The front sight will probably take up no more than the bottom 1/3 of the view through the the Aimpoint. If you were to mount to the top of the carry handle you would easily clear the front sight.
