Here's exactly what happened in this debacle. I posted the ad with explicit instructions of "EMAIL ONLY, NO PMs" because my PM box stays full and I can't handle the volume of PMs I get when posting multiple ads at once. Also, it's just plain easier if I get emails as I am clumsy with the whole PM system here and prefer my email client for organization & ease of response. Neither party in question emailed me for the initial contact. This was confusing right from the get go as I also had a 3rd party (not involved in this dispute) who actually sent an EMAIL stating they wanted the mags as well.
So, I got a PM from CGP2 at 10:03:04 PM EDT stating "I'll take them. I will pay PP.". At 10:35:39 PM EDT I got a post in the ad from 1968roadrunner stating "ill take them". As I was PMing CGP2 back in response to his PM, I must have sent a payment request with my PayPal email address to BOTH 1968roadrunner & CGP2. I do not have those sent PM messages (timestamps) as I can't afford to save "SENT" messages due to the message limits in the PM system here. If I sent both parties payment instructions, that was an honest mistake on my part as I was trying to sort through PMs, Thread Posts, and EMAILS all at once.
I REALLY want to do the right thing here. I posted explicit instructions in the ad specifically to avoid situations like this. The mags were a good deal. I am not making any money off of this and certainly not trying to scam anyone. Once I realized I had multiple buyers at nearly the same time and 2 sent payment, the most logical solution to me was to go back and look at the time stamp of each person's first "I'll take it" and decide based on that.
If I am wrong, I will stand corrected and honor whatever the mods say. I'm trying to be fair about this. I understand the buyer's frustrations, but this seller also has frustrations as I certainly do not want to be drawn into a mud slinging contest over who said what and when because nobody followed the instructions as this seller stated. I have offered 1968roadrunner another mag lot or refund but have yet to hear from him on this. I sent him my telephone number as well. The only contact I have received was his PayPal email stating that he'd sent payment. CGP2 has been in contact via PMs and verbally by telephone.
Where do we go from here? Mods, I await your decision. Thank you kindly.
