Up for sale is a Hensoldt 2.5x magnifier.
I recently purchased the magnifier as part of a LaRue Po' Boy Magnifier setup from another member here. It was described as mounted but no rounds fired with it. I have fired no rounds with it either.
I ended up deciding to go with a Primary Arms 3x magnifier instead of the Hensoldt because I wanted the higher magnification and so I am selling the Hensoldt.
I went ahead and put the Hensoldt in a LaWu (Chinese clone of a LaRue
) LT-649 I had laying around so that way whoever buys this will have some
way to mount it right out of the box.
The Chinese clone mount is passable for use. The pivot mechanism is reasonably solid and close in performance to the real deal LaRue mount. The QD mechanism is another story... If you buy this, don't expect the QD mechanism to work as well as a real LaRue!
The lockup is not as solid though not overly sloppy. You can tighten the tension nut to take out the slop but, if you try to use the QD with the nut tightened way down, you'll likely gouge your rifle (ask me how I know!
). What you can do to mount the mount is 1) keep the nut loose, 2) mount the magnifier, 3) close the QD lever, 4) tighten the nut down. To dismount 1) loosen the nut, 2) flip the QD lever, 3) remove mount.
The Po' Boy setup had been painted khaki/olive drab by the previous owner and I painted the LaWu mount to match.
This Hensoldt is a great budget magnifier and, in fact, has a slight edge in clarity over the Primary Arms magnifier I got. Like I said, I just wanted higher magnification.
