I have two in line for purchase but will answer your ?s. The history of this upper has been a mystery to me since I bought it five years ago off Ebay and it's been in my safe ever since. I agree the receiver looks powder coated and there are some signs on the reciever that may support that, but with the absolute pristine condition of the sights, handguards, barrel, and flash-hider it seems there was little use to justify refinishing.
The bolt is half moon and marked C MP along with the receiver and barrel which I assume is Colt. As for the nunber of rounds that could have gone through it, it might have only been a couple hundred, I said a few K just to be conservative if someone recognizes the amount of wear better than I can. I have only put a few hundred rounds through an AR and I didn't even know there were different size pivot holes when I bought this, so what do I know?
But for Colt at that price (it's way under what I paid for it) it shouldn't disappoint anyone.
ETA: Didn't the sporters always have that refinished grey look to the upper receiver?
