I responded to an ad on the EE for a 9mm mag block that yongxingfreesty was selling link to ad
Prior to agreeing to buy it , I sent an IM and asked several quesions (below):
Is the mag block bottom mag well insert or top?
Is it metal and not the C products plastic unit? If not a "dedicated" mag block, I will take it pending answers to questions above.
He replied below:
The block is inserted from the top and very secure held by the mag release catch thingy.
It is metal, I think Aluminum because it is pretty light.
It is not a dedicated mag block and comes out of the lower with ease by pressing in the mag release and pulling it out.
I received the block and it looked like it had been dremelled to death but I figured that as long as it was funtional with my M16 and AR15 lowers that I would overlook this. I tried to insert in weither lower with no luck. Super tight and it looked that the only way possible to jam it in would be to uninstall the bolt hold open and then re-install when the block was in place (making it a dedicated lower).
I sent him an e-mail to let him know that it did not work in my M16 lower or my RRA AR15 lower unless I tried to remove the bolt stop in order to insert the mag block (was pretty tight anyway...possibly wouldn't even work then) thus making it a dedicated block. I requested a refund, he replied that he bought it here from another guy that told him that it was a top loader and not a dedicated block. I reiterated that it did not work and asked for a refund. At this point, I just see a lot of back peddaling and no resolution to the issue. I have a +98 positive on the board and really burns me when people don't stand behind what they sell.
See e-mail exchange
The fact remains that it does not work on either of my lowers without modifications. There has to be a reason as to why someone felt it necessary to dremel the sides and back of this thing. We can sit here and ponder what the guy told you, but the fact remains that it does not work on my lowers. I just want what is mine minus your cost of shipping.
Here is the original thread of purchase.
The seller says you do not need to remove anything to drop it in. I checked online and only see ASA top drop ins. I dont know the differences between your m16 receiver and mine, but for what it's worth I have a 6920 SBRd receiver I used.
I have tried it on my registered Colt M16 as well as my RRA Entry Tactical AR15...it does not fit either of them. The only way, it would be to remove the bolt stop (not the mag catch) and insert and themre-install the bolt stop. I specifically asked if it was a designated block for that reason. It is an $80 paper weight to me since I can not use it. I would like to have my funds refunded, obviously minus your shipping cost . Please let me know how we can proceed as I do not want to have to go thru the moderators. I have a +98 on this board because I stand behind anything I sell and expect the same.
hi, I purchased it from someone on here trying to find the original thread.
He told me it was not a dedicated block and it was a top loader. I didn't have to remove any mag release to drop in. It was plug and play for me without a problem.
Let me look for the thread tonight and see if I can find more info about it.
Received the mag block, went to try it today for the 1st time and it will not fit . It seems to be the dedicated type where you have to uninstall the bolt release in order to put in and then re-install when the magblock is in place. Not what I'm looking for and why I saked if it was a dedicated type. Even with all the mods that you or someone else made, it will not work. I respectfully request a refund of my money and I will ship back to you. Please advice on how to proceed.
