I bought this TREK 730 last year from a neighbor who is a hardcore cyclist. He took very good care of it and I've just picked it up from the local bike shop after sending it in for a tuneup (gears, brake adjustment, etc.). The problem is not with the TREK, it's with me. I have a lower back problem that rarely bothers me, but riding this for a long time is uncomfortable for me.
I'm really looking for a bike that will allow me to sit more upright with traditional handlebars, a wider seat, and probably larger tires. I don't know that a pure trail bike is what I want, as I'll be riding on the roads sometime, but I'm not a fifty mile rider. As you may have guessed, I'm a novice rider and am just now returning to biking at middle age. I'm 6'3" and weigh about 240 lbs, if that helps in a suggestion for a bike.
The original specs for the bike can be found here.
I believe the previous owner replaced all the rims and spokes with some that are are more heavy duty.
Pics of my bike to follow. I can provide all of these in higher resolution if you want.
I'm in the DFW area and want to do a local trade.
