I'm not defending these just because I sell them.
The TAC 16 is a heck of a value for the money. And the performance is excellent, every time I hear one at the range, I still can't believe they perform as well as they do for $300. For $500 you can have a can tax & all. For a semi-auto rifle why spend more for a can than the gun costs? Sure if you have a M249 SAW or a M16, by all means. But for the average shooter, you'll never relize the value of a Gemtec or an AAC or a SWR and silencers don't have a resale value like machineguns no matter who makes them. It can be disassembled for cleaning & repair so for the inexperienced silencer owner, if they have a baffle strike, it can be repaired cheaply. Not gonna happen with a Gemtec or AAC or a SWR. You'll pay retail for a can "Rebuild" but you'll save the transfer tax.
To be able to bust off without hearing protection, not disturb the neighbors, have some cheap cool factor on your AR, you can't beat it.
