For sale, a partial Saiga .223 parts kit. There are some issues with some of the parts so please read the description carefully and look at the pictures.
This was originally a 2006 Saiga .223 that I converted.
The barrel outer diameter on the 2006 .223 Saigas is larger than the standard Russian and Bulgarian rifles. The gas block and front site block are Bulgarian AK74 parts, to fit the thicker barrel, I removed metal from the inner parts of the FSB and GB and a bit of material from the barrel, all this was done with sand paper. There are some dings in the barrel from the hammer skipping when I removed the old GB. The handguard retainer slot was cut with a dremel and is not pretty but it works and it is not too deep, 1.72mm vs the 1.8mm on the two Arsenals that I checked. The end of the muzzle has some dings, but the crown looks good. The chamber looks a bit rough but fired casings look normal.
The original Saiga trunnion was damaged trying to install an AR magazine adapter, so I rebuilt the rifle on a NoDak Spud 5.45 receiver using a Bulgarian 5.45 trunnion, the rifle headspaced a bit tight but it functioned, I fired 10 rounds through it to ensure that it functioned and it did. The back of the rear site block just under the rear site got dinged up when the hammer slipped as I was removing the barrel. The front trunnion still has one rivet in it.
Included are the .223 barrel, barrel pin, .223 bolt and carrier, recoil spring, safety, dust cover, and rear trunnion from the original rifle, a Bulgarian 5.45 muzzle device and a Bulgarian 5.45 front trunnion.
As I stated at the beginning, this kit has issues, I've been forthcoming with the defects and highlighted all the known problem areas and am selling this as is, please don't think that you are getting a pristine set of parts, this is a gunsmith special.
