This is the story:
Years ago I was looking for a Gi issue A2 barrel to replace the Hbar on my A2 copy. I found an add for a brand new 20" GI issue M16A2 barrel. It was a little pricy but I just had to have it for my A2 copy. If I remember correctly the Barrel came in a tin foil linned paper bag and had a paper dowel in the bore and was covered in cosmoline, no FSGB. It has what appears to be proper barrel stamping (C MP 5.56 NATO 1/12) for a Colt GI barrel. I was very happy with it thinking my A2 copy finaly had a proper barrel. Then it finaly dawned on me, "What's up with the 1/12 marking on a A2 barrel!" I did some research but could not find anything about a Colt A2 barrel that came in 1/12 twist rate. I asked about it on the retro forum and some thought it might be some sort of a Colt export barrel, I don't know for sure. All I know is that this barrel will not work for my needs. I want My A2 copy to be close as possible. The barrel stamping on this barrel is very sweet but 1/12 will not work for me.
Anyway, up fore sale is a 20" Colt A2 profile crome lined barrel with clean and proper markings but at 1/12 twist rate for $265 shipped
descrete PP or any type of check after it clears. It has a low round count (100-175) and some very light handling marks (I need a bigger safe). It will come with the barrel nut, extention, FSGB with hand guard mount, and rubber coated pinned sling swivel . The FSGB was nicly scured with set screws and is properly timed by me. Here is a chance to get a Colt A2 barrel that will be very happy shooting the very popular 55gr loads. I know I may be sorry for selling this barrel because I have a crap load of 55gr ammo for my A1 copy. I want enough for this barrel to help purchase a colt / FN A2 barrel in 1/7.
If your just looking and Have some info on this barrel please IM me. I will try to add any good info without bumping this add.
I just removed the barrel and found a flaw that I had forgotten about. Remember back in the day when we could not have threaded barrels on new AR's. some went with snubbed barrels some had compensators welded or blind pinned on. This barrel went the blind pin route. After the Fed ban sunsetted the pinned compensator was removed and I never looked back until tonight.
When I unscrewed the A2 compensator I was reminded that it once had a legal compensator pinned on. This is a cosmetic blem only and will never be noticed. I have re-installed the A2 comp properly
with a peel washer. Due to the recently discovered hidden cosmetic blem I will reduce the price to $195 shipped
