Go ahead and order one. My desire is to work a fair trade with someone.
If I do sell I'm not looking to make a profit, only asking fair price that I can put toward my list above.
I purchased the M1 about 18 months ago for $350. I then put about 20 hours of labor into tearing it completely down, cleaning every part, carefully refinshing the wood. Then another several hours recording and researching every part of it. I also had the headspace checked, replaced a slightly bent but still servicable extractor and replaced the op rod spring which was just under spec. If you consider my 20 hrs of work even at minimum wage that would be another $103, replacement parts were $24. That puts my cost at $477.
If you compare similar condition Garands on the auction sites, you wont find many for $500 or less. If you order from CMP you will pay less and may get something great, you may not. But here you know exactly what you are getting.
So if anyone wants to purchase it Face to Face, I'll take $475. If you want it shipped to your FFL/C&R, make it $500. But I'd prefer to work a trade.
