OK, I just want to thank all of you who participated in the Group Buys since I started my business. And as a combination christmas / thanks for your support gesture I am offering 1911s "at cost."
Couple things first.
People have frequently requested I do group buys on various handguns and I never have. Here is why:
If a given handgun cost $600 dealer price and retails at $800 here is what happens. I usually try and sell in the midrange so I would price it around $700ish.
But handguns are subject to shipping regs that require 2 Day Air delivery (average cost $35.00).
So locally it would sell for about $735. If I ship it the cost have to factor double shipping and it would be $770 which is damn close to retail. Even if I don't make ANY money it would still cost $670 so I would have to be willing to only make $30 in profit to compete with local dealers. And I just cant stand the idea that Fed Ex is gonna make more than twice what I am gonna make on a sale. $30 is less than sales tax on that item.
So since I can't sell these things and actually make a profit I'm gonna let them go "at cost" to those who have participated in my group buys.
"At cost" means my dealer price from a reliable supplier (so please don't tell me about www.closeouts.com who has them $4.00 cheaper) + total shipping charges. This will be $35.00 both ways for a total of $70.00 completely insured.
For those who want a premium 1911 I'm gonna offer Kimbers. Here are some examples and pricing:
Custom II $594.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $664.00 (Retails $730)
TLE II $724.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $794.00 (Retails $895)
Royal II $712.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $782.00 (Retails $886)
Pro Carry II $628.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $698.00 (Retails $773)
I can get other models but please only request a quote if you are serious as all Kimber prices are POR.
For those who don't have a Kimber budget I'm also doing Springfields.
Mil Spec 1911 $456.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $526.00
WWII Mil Spec $366.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $436.00
And for anyone with money to burn:
Colt WWI Mil Spec $834.00 + 70 (s/h/ins) = $904.00
Obviously more money is saved with the more expensive 1911s (Colt or Kimber) due to the greater difference between "at cost" and retail.
If anyone is local and want to do a in person transfer the s/h/ins will only be one way ($35.00) but you will be subject to a $10 background check fee.
The above prices are for those who participated in previous Group Buys only.
If anyone else wants in add $25.00.
I'm gonna leave this offer up until end of December to allow people to budget this given holiday spending, etc. If you want in I need payment by Dec. 31, 2003 and I hope to deliver in the first week of January.
