King’s Gun Works has been building fine 1911s in California since well before many of us were born. Their small parts and other products have been used by many custom gunsmiths for just as long. With the recent popularity in custom 1911s that the internet has spawned, it’s really no shock that they, too, have a bit of a following.
This gun was built by King’s in April of 2001. It features many of the custom touches you’d expect in a gun costing twice as a much, but still not sacrificing on parts or labor.
Starting off with just a Caspian frame and slide, this gun was commissioned to be of exceptional quality. Using mainly King’s Custom parts, with some Colt small parts, the buildsheet just seems expansive. This wasn’t a base gun with some parts being able to be reused, but a fresh build, needing every little part to put together.
Many of the parts used on this are King’s, to include:
201 Speed Safety
202 Slide Stop
207 Grip Safety
509 Mainspring Housing
301 NM Trigger (Short)
317 Pin Set
508B Enhanced Hammer
304 NM Barrel Bushing
306 NM Guide Rod
311 NM Link
313 18.5lb Recoil Spring
701 Stainless, ramped barrel
Fit of this gun is everything you’d expect, and more. More importantly, function has been flawless.
This gun is offered for sale at the price of $2250
, plus $30 for shipping. Personal or Cashiers checks, or PMO’s accepted. Sorry, I don’t have the ability to take credit cards.
Please note that this gun was originally fitted with a King’s Extended Thumb Safety (which is still included), but was later fitted with a Colt style safety. I simply prefer the Colt style safeties. Also included with this gun is an exceptionally grained set of Elephant Ivory stocks. Build sheet is included, as well as a pair of magazines.
