Here's what happened:
I saw the post on 5/1, and thought that the deal sounded good (even though he only had 3 posts to his name). I emailed him for details and pictures, and he sent me pics of the $250 sight, AND of the $150 sight. The latter looked pretty beat up, and in talking to him about conditions and what all comes with the sights, I decided on the more expensive one.
Late on Friday night (around 11:30pm), I PayPal'd some money for the sight, battery, and USPS Priority Mail shipping.
Sunday, in chat, I was talking to people, and someone (can't remember who) noted that all of GIJOE9988's posts were missing. I, of course, assumed the worst, figured that my $250+ dollars were gone. I figured I'd just wait it out and see what happened.
Monday morning came, and the postman had a large box from GIJOE, Inc. in Florida. Packed inside, wrapped in bubblewrap, was a smaller box containing the Aimpoint, the mount (with spacer) and a battery.
I don't know what the story is behind the sights, the posts being deleted or moved, or other people being screwed. The only thing I know is I have a working Aimpoint CompM (with mount), and although it's a little rough finish-wise, it's completely workable.
I'm sorry if someone (Boom apparently) got "screwed" (I don't know the details) by GIJOE9988. Rest assured that I'm not here humping for this guy. I've been a board member for around 2 years now, and have bought things from many different people. Was it dumb for me to purchase something from an unknown, over the Internet, with him having only 3 posts to his name? Probably. Chock it up to my terrible wanting of an Aimpoint. However, he did me right, but maybe I was just lucky.
