This is a post war rifle made by FN for the government. These were original .30-06 rifles, this is not a conversion. This is one of the last military 98's ever built.
The crest of a Crown and the "L" is for Leopold, King of Belgium. Many of them were used in the Belgian Congo, and were badly pitted. The ones used in Belgium are always in better shape.
Since Belgium was also issuing the Model 1950 Semi-auto rifle, the 98's saw little use, and are usually in better shape.
This rifle has been sporterised and is in 98% condition, has been reblued and a custom stock made, and bedding has been done. It also has a 6X power fixed older Remington fine hair dot scope from the early 60's. All work was done in the early 60's.
