I just purchased a preban Bushmaster from a supposed reputable gunsmith/refinish company in Phoenix AZ. The original ad was for a "like new" lower receiver that had been rebuilt. The upper was a Bushmaster flattop with Rock River Arms Carry handle. Currently, there is green hardware on the weapon.
Upon receiving the weapon, I noticed a blemish on the lower receiver magazine well. It is noticeable. Upon deeper inspection, I noticed someone had taken a dremel type tool to fix some type of problem on the receiver. I have to really turn it to the light to see the grind marks. It does not affect the integrity of the lower receiver.
My first impulse was the weapon was an LEO lower receiver that had been dremeled. However, the serial number is legitimate (even ran it NCIC to make sure it wasn't stolen).
The "reputable" gunsmith refuses to give a refund unless I get photographs of the damage, and prove the damage was there prior to my receiving the weapon. I just received the rifle yesterday and I guess the three day grace period doesn't apply.
So I learned a valuable lesson. From my lesson you might be able to get a deal. I have this rifle for sale:
Preban Bushmaster #LO327XX
14.5 Bushmaster Barrel with phantom flash suppressor
Green 4 position Collapsible stock and Green Ergo Grip
Bushmaster Flattop Upper (more purple tint than lower receiver)
Rock River Arms Carry Handle
Parts I purchased:
New Bushmaster Fiberite 6 position collapsible stock
Bushmaster stock handgrip
Bushmaster carbine handguards
Parts on the way:
Bushmaster Removable Carry Handle
I paid $1,750 for this rifle and another $230 for parts. I am willing to part with the weapon and all parts listed above for $1,500 or BEST LEGITIMATE OFFER. I do not want to part the weapon out. I will accept Certified Check or Money order and will only send to states where weapon is legal to own. I will get photos as soon as I can dig up a digital cam.
