I have a nice post WWII M1 Garand Rifle. Serial # is 42870xx that makes it an early postwar manufacture. The Barrel is stamped SA 4-53 which would make this the correct barrel for the serial #. The barrel gauges a 2.5 at the bore and only 4 at the throat, that makes for a good barrel. Bore is bright and rifling strong with no pits that I can see. The stock is walnut and has the typical battle scars of a military rifle of this age. A slight cartouche on the stock is also visible.. It is a walnut stock not a later birch one, both handguards are also walnut. The op rod is marked 6535382 SA and the milled trigger guard is a D28230- WRA , bolt is a6528287 HRA and it looks like the remaining parts are all SA. This would be an excellent rifle to start a restoration with, as the barrel is correct. Parkerizing on the receiver and barrel is very good and has that greenish tint to it that is so highly desired on U.S. military weapons. No import marks! This particular rifle would make an excellent choice for a re-enactor, shooter, or collector of U.S. martial arms. Please make sure that your FFL accepts from a non-FFL. C&Rs are fine too. $635.00 shipped and insured in the CONUS.
