Right, this is precisely my point. If it's integral to what you do, wouldn't you want to learn it? To me, that would be like being a security gaurd who didn't know how to shoot a gun. Yeah, he can still collect a paycheck but shit, if you're gonna do something, do it right. It just annoys me that "everyone" now seem to put the minimum effort into what they do.
People here will get their panties in a bunch reading this thread because in a way, it's condemning people for not being technically proficient but they will react the same way when they go to Walmart, and the clerk behind the counter doesn't know the difference between a box of 9mm and a box of .223, then come here, and rant up and down about how some people don't know how to do their job. I guess it just matters based on what kind of technical proficiency you think is important.
And I don't think being able to afford anything is the issue, they are selling thousand dollar guns and you could buy a digital camera for $50 bucks now.
