As the one being the "trigger happy mod" let me explain myself and my intent...
(and as I already talked to Cliffy109, we're cool with it, no ill will harbored whatsoever)
I saw the ad, read thru it and the first word in the post that made me look twice was "bump" not a straight answer, then he went on to answer the Paypal question. Splitting hairs? Yeah, but hey, I'm learning on the job, won't happen again. FWIW Cliffy109 stated he wasn't aware of the rule change via IM with me, and I took a rule to literally when I locked it.
What he stated in the lead post of this thread was that he saw the question and IM'd the person directly, so the asker, a potential buyer, was answered, hence, the saleability of his item was not affected in the least. He then stated for the general membership a day later, not the asker, but the general membership that he would take PayPal by bumping his ad with that info, not just editing his original post immediately with sale terms to enhance the saleability of his item, which were never in the ad to begin with.
So am I trigger happy? I doubt it, as some here know, via IM's and behind the scenes stuff I've been INSANELY accomodating with many here regarding BTT violations, hardship and doing the right thing.
Please. I asked to do this. I worked for a living and earned everything I have, nothing was handed to me. To arrive at the diagnosis of uppity from rules being enforced in the EE seems a bit of a stretch. To be open, as it was all over the NY and member forum here, I have a lot of free time as of late since I'm recovering from spinal cancer surgery and am unable to work. I've been humbler than I've ever been in my life and have a nw found apreciation for the simple things in life, like say....walking.
This site has been good to me in more ways than you'll ever know. If you were at BRC 2002 you'd know. I wanted to give some back. Is that bad? It's a job that pays nothing, and earns aggravation in dividends.
Who does "deserve' to be in this position? College grads? Mediation trained dispute experts? Write up a sheet of qualifications and submit it to the site owners. Then watch the highly qualified mod wannabees beat the doors down for the "job." I'm not bottom of the barrel by any means. Ed Sr knows me and the staff i guess discussed it. They said I'm up if I want it, so that has to be worth something.
Placed in a position I don't deserve?
See the above.
Gents, if you feel letting your membership go is the answer then go ahead and let it slide. Maybe you'll feel better about what you do with your money. A membership is a drop in the bucket compared to what it actually costs to keep this place up and running. They don't make a profit by any means whatsoever. You chuck money left and right at your guns, what does a membership add up to in your year? If you can't see past the EE issues at the bigger benefit of the site to the gun community as a whole...look again.
