I've had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Stephen Bay, I shipped him a mint Colt 9 mm green label box about 1.5 yrs. ago, at that time I had just swapped out a local PD's inventory of pre-'89 Colt 9 mm rifles w/boxes for some LE only weapons. My dealer got the rifles & I got the boxes. Upon reciept of the box from the Postman he claimed it was crushed & bent in half when it was delivered to his shop. Like everything I ship Priority Mail, I insured the package & you have to sign for it upon reciept. I ask you, who in their right mind would sign for a item that was crushed & bent in half ? Then he explains to me I have to do the claim form ? I didnt receive the item, he did. To simplify the situation I asked him to send the box back to me for a replacement & I would reimburse him for his postage. He never sent the box back, instead he took the matter to the Bowers board of Inquiry. Bottom line is this guy was trying to scam me out of another $ 75.00 Colt box and never would fill out the Postmaster claim form nor would he send me the damaged box back.
Here's the kicker.. About 2 months later he's advertising a green label Colt 9mm AR on the board as new in box so I get some fellow AR15.com members to inquire about it and ask for pictures. Guess what box he's using ? Nuff said ?
