what do ya'll recomend for a 9mm ?  I started looking into the 9mm set-up for the AR, but unsure about the 'mods' required of the lower.

I want something that'll have readily avail. mags and will eat regular and subgun ammo.

AR version or an HK or...???

thanks!

You might want to look at the M11/9 carbine. You can easily find these for under $300 and magazines can be had for $20 a piece. Later on you could convert the reciever to accept Sten magazines. Also there's a semi-auto Sten kit for $300, you get the reciever, semi auto parts and a 16" barrel.

If you want expensive there's the AR-15 in 9mm which you can build for under $1000. The HK-94 you'll pay at least $2000 or get the lesser SW-5 for $1000. Both the HK-94 and AR-15 in 9mm magazines are expensive.

Contact Rock River Arms for a 9mm upper for your AR. The ones i saw at the SHOT show were GREAT! And their price is very competitive.   STAY AWAY FROM SPECIAL WEAPONS CRAP!

I would suggest an IMI UZI Carbine. You can get 9mm, 45, 22lr, and 41Ae kits for it. Then you can register it as a short rifle or convert to full auto with a registered kit and then silence the thing. This way you can grow into the perfect gun in steps.

I like the HK94, but very pricey. I have never cared for the Uzi. right now I'm checking out the sten gun option...

so far I found a parts kit for the Sten at Tapco  ($150+)

how about a semi auto sten kit designed for the cheap $25 mk3 kits out there now?  and it will cost under $150 delivered?  no ffl because it's a raw tube and you make it yourself...  check the site www.semiautosten.com in about 2 weeks.

I would recomend the any of the Calico Liberty series 9mm's. They work on the same roller delayed blow back system almost identical to the H and K. They are very reliable, very acurate and about a quarter the cost of the HK-94.  The only draw back is the $200 magazines.

You might also look into one of the carbines made by Feather Inustries; I've no experience with 'em, myself, but everybody I've talked to who has one likes it.
