a P7M8 and a HK94.  I've burned through 4 UMP's and found them fun, but the allure of the 'classic' HK seems to draw me in more and more.

What should my next HK be, a '91, '93 or '89 ?  (In terms of collectibility and value on the one hand and reliability and accuracy on the other.....)

Seems like a large selection of 91s out on the market at this time. Maybe you can find a good buy.

my friend just got a CHERRY one.  I had a thread about it a while ago - it was a gunbroker gun and he jumped on it.  Iwas just up in NY and checked it out.  IT's so gorgeous. sstraight up gorgeous.  perfect condition, port buffer, the whole deal.  he's very into evil features but this gun is so pretty he's leaving the fixed stock as is.  IT's that nice.

You need a HK 91 of your own

In your last post for your friend I mentioned that there were a few HK91s on HKpro that sold for $1,750 to 1,900. With extras.

I have a lot of HKs and the 91 is my favorite. I like my 94 and 93, but the 91 is the gun I shoot the most.

The SP89 will have the most collector value because there are fewer of them, plus they are great for MP5K hosts.

HK94 is 2nd for collector value, however thanks to the flood of CA DOJ HK94s the market is a bit down right now.

93 still commands a high price $2,200 to $3,000 depending on extras

91s are the least expensive because there are so many of them 50,000 or so. But it is a classic.

Some other classic HK Rifles to look at would be a HK SR9 TC. The SR9 lacks the flash hider of the 91, but it has a polygonal barrel and is very accurate. My 91 is MOA but a SR9 should be even better. Plus the SR9 is more rare than the 91.

The HK SL7 is another "classic" HK in my book. It is not as cool as a 91 but it is very sexy. And it will out shoot a 91.

One final classic HK you will need is a HK P9S. I love my P7M8 but the P9S is the most accurate handgun I own. Better than the USP Tactical and P7M8.

I know you asked about HK's, but if money's tight and you're willing to consider a clone, you might want to think about a PTR91 from JLD.  I've heard lots of good things about this gun and in fact have one on order.  It's not going to be the equal of a real HK, but fit and finish are supposed to be pretty good and they have a reputation for functioning reliably.  You can pick one up at SARCO for between $700 and $1,000 depending on model.

If you have your heart set on a real HK though, I'd agree on the 91 (since it appears you already own the 94).  Plus, I think the existence of a quality clone alternative in the PTR91 has helped moderate the price of the real thing.

HK93.  I always wanted one, but I can't justify the post-89 prices...

I'd say SP89 if you didn't already have a HK94.  Just my thoughts.

I'd go with a HK91 - lots of cheap mags available, the price is coming down because of the JLD products.  Heck, get a JLD PTR...  Everyone has to have a 7.62 NATO or two... or three...

Good question - can you put a NIB 93 in the safe and not shoot it?  Or can you live with a slightly used 93, spend $100 or so on a refinish job and be able shoot it whenever you want to?  I am having the same problem.  I'm leaning towards a shot-little, almost NIB 93.  I don't have the discipline to NOT shoot it...

I owned the V-93 and was very happy with it.  Didn't have a single failure to function at any point.  I liked the size and weight of the 93 more so than the 91 so I ended up buying an HK-93 and selling the Vector 93.  The Vector 93 was a great gun while I had it, if you're looking for a lower priced 93, you will probably be pretty happy with the Vector.  The Vector's have a lifetime warranty and I've heard they're great about their service, though I've never had to call them.

Just be aware that the Vector receivers are a smidge bigger than the real HK ones so the stocks are tight getting off and going on.  This is really the only issue I have with the Vectors.

I've heard good things about the Vector, too, but I have not played with one.  The concensus I hear is they are not on a par of HK but good.  What you are getting for the extra money is the ability the sell it for a similar price.  If its a toy, I'd opt for the Vector.  If a collector, HK93 of course.  Vector's aren exactly cheap either (at least to me).

When I hit the lotto, what an arsenal I will have.
