There are no U.S. dealers of the Tavor, nor can you import them as they are not 922r complaint.

Two companies have tried to import the Tavor and put the required 922r USA made compliance parts in them, Barret (of .50 cal fame) gave up due to the licensing costs IMI was asking, and Charles Daly went belly up before they could actually get the deal sealed.

I would suggest Pete Athens for an AUG A3. He was instrumental as an AUG rifle/parts source even in the blackest days of the ban.

I won't buy anything else from Ratworks, FWIW.

I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

As said above, there are no importers for the Tavor right now, and there will not be until someone decides to start making compliance parts.  It will either take IMI partnering with someone to make compliance parts in the US like Steyr did with Sabre, or it will take a US manufacturer getting the License to build a clone...

For an AUG A3 I suggest Pete Athens as mentioned above, or Mike at Specialist Gun Shop.  I believe both are currently selling in the neighborhood of $1800-1850 $1890 and are giving additional 5 mags (for a total of 7)....

IIRC Boricua claimed Ratworx 'lied' to him about the availability of products.  Ratworx can't supply what they don't have in stock, and their time estimates come from MSAR.  You guys can figure out the rest. Boricua is welcome to post the link to the original thread, I can't find it and it is buried somewhere in the archives.

Ratworx are good people, I have ordered and dealt with them many times, and they do have AUG A3's in stock.

A lot of the Tavor parts are manufactured in the US already due to some agreement with Israel and US, so "compliance parts" are not the issue.

From page 2 of the 55 page CD/Tavor thread:

Quoted:

Several posters in this thread are correct in that many of the parts are already manufactured here under FMS.

That makes it slightly easier, but only slightly.  The main hurdle is going to be the fact that its still under patent.  Any attempt to make a Tavor in the Us will require license from IMI.  And depending on the nature of the contract between CDI and IMI you may also have to get CDI to relinquish rights also....

All I am saying is this is not something a backyard machinist is going to be able to do.  Its seems some here are hoping that certain talented members of the Bullpup Community will be able to just throw one together using only seom soda cans, some kydex, and the collective desire for a Tavor....  I'm just trying to rain on their parade

Oh yeah... absolutely.  I was only clearing up the part about 922r and needing to "find" someone to make the parts in the US.

IMI has a reputation for being difficult, fickle, and a whole lot of other stuff.  They screwed Daly on the 1911 they were putting together too.  It would be easier to work with 922r with some other company (like Steyr, obviously) than it will be for anyone to deal with IMI even with US parts already.

If it ever happens, it will be someone like DSA or Magnum Research who already has a relationship with them, or someone like Remington or Ruger with a LOT of money to grease the wheels.

Off-Topic: Sorry OP

OnSlaught, I like your signature as it's so true.  I hate when people say "well with an AR if SHTF you can find replacement parts" when trying to think of a positive over other rifles as though you can just walk to your local gun store and pick up parts cheap during the middle of SHTF.

My apologies as well OP - but yeah, look how well things went when that "new guy" got elected President a couple years ago.  They were giving away bolt carriers for free the rest of 2008!!!
