Are you going to be doing most of your shooting from a bench, sitting,or prone? We will need more info on the type shooting you will be doing.

Personally, I like the 9-13".  Although it lends itself more to shooting from the prone position, I sometimes use it with the my homemade 14" shooting bench stool (very sturdy, but semi-portable) to shoot varmints from a kneeling position.  The longer bipods tend to stick out past the end of the 16" barrel.  If you'll be shooting from a fixed tabletop setup, the 9-13" will work well here also.  If you'll be stalking and kneeling for most of your shots, consider shooting sticks - I thought that I would hate them until I tried them.  Shooting sticks are very portable and offer a suprisingly stable rest.

I like the BR (6" to 9").

Good for shooting benchrest.

whichever one you get, make sure it's the swivel model.  They cost extra, but are worth it.

At first I was going to say none!  A bipod on a shorty?  But than I read on...varmint hunting!  I ditto Hardwood's reply.  Have fun!

The 9"-13" swivel model should do it for you;   I hear the newer ones have notches in the legs.
