Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - use of AR15 float tubes on Armalite AR-10A2

Can the AR-15 free-float tubes (which utilize the A2 like handguards) be used to float the barrel on the Armalite AR-10A2?

I am assuming they can. I believe the handgaurds are inter-changable between the two rifles. I have little experience with the Ar10 and do not know what differences there are in the receiver.

No.  The AR10 uses a larger barrel nut, so AR15 tubes are not compatible.

I had a AR10A2 and wanted to do the same thing. You can't even put an Armalite AR10 tube on it without somehow removing the permament  brake. Best bet would be to buy a bare barrel and bla bla bla.
