I've got 25 of the rubber rockets from ALS rubber rocket less lethal rounds. Are these worth anything to shotgun reloaders?

They'd be nothing than a curiosity.  I never seen these rounds in person, I'd be interested if you also had access to a live round, I'd be interested in how it's constructed, thinking there's powder, maybe a card, then the projectile on top of the card?

I have a couple boxes of them left over. I keep them in a loaded shotgun for if I need to get anything away from me, but can't kill it. I have plenty of ays to kill things, but I think it's good to have a less-lethal option for neighborhood animals.

The round is a clear plastic round. I as going to post pics but I don't have access to a good enough camera to see through the smokey/clear/white shell. But, I'll see what I can do. I'd rip one apart but they run about $6/round.

It's fun to fire these rounds as there's no recoil or sound. BB/pellet guns have more kick to them. However they still broke though wood paneling and shattered homer buckets.

The round looks like it has no powder. Recessed into the brass of the shell is a gray hard rubber disk that I think acts as the wadding behind the round. On top of that is the rubber rocket. The top of the round is sealed differently than any shotgun round I've seen before.

I fired a bunch of these last weekend and was able to recover a little over 25 of the rockets. They bounced all over the place so I was able to find them pretty easily.

ETA: Here's some for sale

I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to reload for.  115 grains is about 1/4 oz by my calculations.  I don't have over shot cards but I think I could take a plastic wad and cut the legs and petals off of it to make one one the fly.

I don't know the velocity of the round, but if I had a chrono and a real round I'd chronograph it, then add a fast burning powder like Bullseye or Red Dot 1 grain at a time until it chrono'd at the same speed as the real one.

That small amount of powder will not be droppable with my MEC charge bar even with the smallest bushing, so I'd set up my 550 or 650 to drop the powder charge say in a 9mm case then transfer the powder from the 9mm case to the shot shell, then press in the makeshift over shot card, press the rocket in by hand, then crimp as usual

As a civilian, if you pull out a shotgun and fire it, it had better be because you were in fear for your life.  For a civilian to fire less than lethal rounds sounds like an arrest and conviction on criminal charges followed by a civil suit that will keep you and your family impoverished for the rest of your lives.  It will also keep "the victim" of your shooting on easy street for the rest of his scumbag life.

I'm very aware of this. I have pistols and carbines for the of chance I need to defend my life. I have the less lethal for non-human aggressors. I would never use less-lethal rounds in self-defense scenario against a person.

The only reason to pull the trigger on someone/something is to kill it in self defense.Only other reason is hunting. If a person....... you need to be scared shitless that your life may be ending and need a real set of balls not rubber ones.
Novelty rounds is what they are like the bird bombs ect

Dude, watch yourself. I carry a firearm every day and am very aware of what it will require of me to pull the trigger should I need to. I'm in the infantry and have trained to take a life. LL is far from my first line of defense, however I see it as another option.

I'm not a fan of under-gunning ones self purposefully. I am however a fan of having options. I have lethal options (5.56, 12Ga, .45, 9mm, .38) , and I have less lethal options (OC spray, rubber rocket rounds). I've also practice BJJ, Boxing, and an amalgamation of easter MA. Not everything is  nail.

Let's keep this discussion focused on the value of reloading these rockets.

I think if you cut a rubber disk to act as the wadding you could easily reload these. I should have keep one of the discs. I'll see if I can recover one at work on monday and post it and a spent shell.
