I am looking at getting a socom first gen. and cutting the stock about 1" and adding a rubber butt. Has anyone done this before and what pad would you recommend and how would you cut it.

Also, the 2005 SA catalog shows the Socom and socom II have different gas systems.... why did they change it...? is it easier to work on?

Thanks
Anthony

They had to modify it to work with the gas difference from the shorter 16inch barrel. I believe the only real difference is the size of the gas outlet hole on the bottom of the cylinder. Different would probably be able to be more precise, so maybe he'll chime in. That's also one more reason I like the Scout better, it has more commonly interchangeable parts and more choices for barrels and muzzle devices.
