i've been about these for the past few weeks. i need to do some serious saving to afford one, but in the mean time, i had a few questions i hoped someone could answer.

they have a carbine version and a regular version. the carbine has a 22" barrel and the regular a 29.5" barrel. what is the minimum barrel length for gettting optimal performance out of the big 50? the carbine is 5 pound lighter than the regular version, but again the barrel is that much shorter. at what barrel length do you loose too much balistic performance to be practical?

need some opinions on this matter. thanks...sloth

I would go to the biggerhammer .50 board for this one. http://www.biggerhammer.net/

The carbine version is not available yet. I feel your pain.

I shot a reg and it had a nice pull. The guy installed a 45angled brake on his. With .50bmg min range is 1000yrds. So, its just a matter of user pref.

The Serbu is a nice way to get into .50's.
I got a chance to fire one in NC 2 months ago, before I got out of the USMC.
It was a rush. I only fired 1 round, but I had a big ol' SEG on my face for about 30 min after firing of that puppy.
And the local .22 shooter didn't mind one bit about the guy shooting.
Too bad the range was only a 200 meter range.

Oh sadly i've been eyeing one of those myself....

oh when will it ever end!

...and if they try to ban them here then i'll almost definately have one. [sigh]

I stopped by Serbu a few months back... Mark showed me around and even let me fondle a .50 he was working on... very nice stuff!

more to the point i fired one saturday a week ago with somechinese 50 ammo that the rifle's owner had - first shot blew primer on the case - i didn't feel anything, no gas, no brass p[articles, notheing but the recoil of about a 308 round
was the rifle version and was very accurate at 375 yds - farthest distance at this range
