Just bought a sar-4800 in .308. I was comparing it to my .223 Sar-4800 and they are completely different. The 308 has a muzzle break that looks like they just cut a regular flash fider down. I cant find any pin holes so I guess it was soldered on.  Anybody know any thing about these?  Also does anybody know the serial number ranges for the .308??  thanks Flat

Are there any parts kits or people who do conversions to 5.56 for FAL type rifles?  I know there was someone on the FAL Files that did all sorts of caliber and quick change barrel upgrades for FALs (meeper?), but I'm not sure if he is still in business.  Anyone know of any 5.56 options for FALs that are reliable?

Yes, I looked at that. Doesn't answer my question for the .308 model only the .223 model, they are very different.  At least mine are.. and nobody talks about the serial numbers on the .308.

What did you pay for the SAR4800 in .308?

Tell me what you think it is worth...ha ha .   Fal files says between $800-900. Gunbroker I have seen them go for $1500-1600. So who knows. I got it with a lot of other stuff.

I bought one a few months ago for $725 out the door, with the box.  Appear to be brand new, never fired.  Oh so sweet.

Yankeewhite,   Does that one have a synthetic stock? I have noticed some do and some dont. Mine came with a wood stock. I have not seen to many with the wood stock.

It has a black coating, and when I took it off it looks to be made of some pressed material I beleive.  I have since taken off the muzzle weight, put on a DSA reproduction flash hider, FSE trigger parts, a tapco gas piston and an older Penguin arms pistol grip and butt stock.  Much better handling.
Next I am going to convert my other a Springfield, a Sar3/8.

Sounds cool, I like the DSA folding stocks.  but I thinks I will leave Mine "as is". I have the .223 model also and wanted a pair that looked the same.  I paid around $850 but I got  some mags. I watched one bid for $1475 on gunbroker a few weeks ago.  I still have not found how many were actually imported in the .308 model
