got some used AR parts that were painted long ago. any tips on removing the remaining bits of paint?

Get some Strip-ez from walmart. just dont get it on anything rubber or plastic.

the stock is what has the paint on it. any other recomendations for removing paint on the carbine stock?

Try acetone aka fingernail polish remover.

Acetone and plastic do not mix so be careful with that.

They also make non-acetone fingernail polish remover. I've used it to remove paint on plastic before with no major issues. It can dry out hard plastic but that's nothing a lil oil won't fix.
