By some miracle, I was able to consistently hit 8oz(?) Gatorade bottles at what I thought was 100 yards using a cheap Tasco .22 scope and my stock 10/22 Deluxe. I was using a Ramline clamp-on bipod and firing from prone. I was able to hit a Gatorade bottle cap repeatedly, I had to use the glint of light to see it. I think the scope was 4X-10X. Later, I measured the distance with a tape and discovered it was actually 130 yards. It took forever because I had to walk to the target between strings during the zeroing process, but I had it zeroed at 50 yards already.
I can hit dirt clods with my Taurus 62 at 150 yards.
One other totally lucky shot was on a dare while I was shooting with friends. I hit a blackbird at 50 yards with my Ruger P-85 9mm. I aimed about a foot high and I winged the bird. It squawked and jump into the air and fell to the ground dead.
When I first started shooting, I shot the primer out of a spent shotgun hull at 50 feet. The sights weren't zeroed at all, I was guessing where the bullet would go.
