Hey guys new to the board but I know theres a lot of experience and knowledge on this site. Lemme first start explaining what im building. Im going for a semi long range coyote rifle. Its going to be all dpms parts with magpul furniture as well as a yankee hill diamond forend. 24in fluted barrel with a bennie cooley comp. Still deciding on trigger I have the magpul prs stock, rail panels and miad grip all in od green. But was thinking about painting the upper and lower, barrel, comp and forend. As well as scope as soon as i figure what to get. Sorta going for a two-tone to break it up and give a semi camo effect. But ive been looking at duracoat and im thinking a brown color. Maybe magpul fde. But i dont know the exact darkness or lightness of it? Dont want something really dark brown and I dont want something tan, but in between. Was wondering input on that, as well as the other questions. Hope you guys can help me build my perfect rifle.

I just started experimenting with Dura-Coat about 6 months ago, and after doing 4 of my own guns and 1 for a friend, I'm very pleased with all my results. Funny thing, but if you follow the directions this stuff works really good. My first was on a crappy old winchester 20 ga. pump that is now one of my favorites. I did it in Combat Black and Sniper Green. (Consider this color combo). Of the last 4 other things I did, 2 of them were Mossberg 500's in Magpul FDE and Combat Black. Although, as I said, I really like the way they came out, the FDE is really light. You can go to the Dura-Coat website and click on each color to see what it looks like on an example AR, but I'm not so sure it's as accurate of a depiction as if you actually saw one for real. My best suggestion is, when you have some time to play around, go back up to the "Refinishing Forum Picture Thread" and go through ALL the pages. You'll see some amazing jobs from some extremly talented guys there, and you can narrow your plans down from what you will see. I did,
 Good luck on the project!!!!

Thanks alot bucksdaddy. Yah ive heard nothing but how good it is. I was gunna first do my remington 870 to test out and figured id do a black with magpul odgreen. But I would love to see some pics of yours in the sniper green. Its nothing Im going to tackle right away with the ar jus figured id get peoples opinions on the color combo before hand. I checked duracoats website but i dont think it gives an exact of what the colors gunna turn out like.

Sorry Pal:
I've been screwing around for days trying to post a picture here, but it aint working. Guess I'll wait till someone with some computer sense comes over to show me what to do. BUT, in the mean time, go back to the main refinishing page, and click on the very first thing, which is "Refinishing Forum Picture Thread", then go to page 20. A bit less that halfway down is a pic of a Mossberg 500 done in Sniper Green and Combat Black. That's the one I copied for my winchester.
