Are chinese SKS's any good? this one comes with 1400 rd's of ammo for $275. good deal or not?

Ammo is worth appx $100-120. That makes the rifle appx $175. I have paid a whole lot less for them when they were plentiful, but that doesn't seem like too bad a price.

Chinese SKSs come in several flavors:

Standard threaded barrel, 10 rnd fixed magazine
Standard threaded barrel, detachable magazine
"Paratroop" cut down barrel
Pinned standard length barrel

All work well. Firearms are one of the few things that the Chinese do well.

Also note the following flavors...
1-Threaded BBL---all milled parts
2-Threaded BBL---all stamped parts
3-Threaded BBL---mixed parts
4-Pressed BBL---all milled parts
5-Pressed BBL---all stamped parts
6-Pressed BBL---mixed parts
The most desirable would be preban (original bill of sale dated before Nov 1990) threaded BBL---all milled parts...

I bought one several years ago with 1440 rounds of ammo for $130.00. They are really good rifles for the money. I wish I had never sold it. I had two others and sold them as well. They all had the folding bayonet.

I wish this one had a bayonet but that would be illegal!

The milled trigger guard / threaded barrel ones are more valuable, but I've got a couple stamped / pinned ones and they are great. One of them is my favorite rifle of all for shooting. Cheap, carefree, reliable, powerful enough, not too much kick.
