Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - changing regular handguards to free float DCM handguards?

How hard is this to do as I have an ar that has everything on it to be a DCM rifle except it needs the free floated handguards.

Not an easy task for the average person as you have to remove the front sight base to install the tube.

I have done that before but will I need any special tools etc. to attach the new tube?

Yes, you have to punch out the taper pins and knock the FSB off of the barrel. Armalite has one of the better DCM free float tubes on the market, IMHO.
