it is a GREY GREEN color, much more functional IMO than foliage green.
look up FELDGRAU on google, and you'll see good examples |

I googled "ranger green" and got stuff about the Green Power Ranger... |

FeldGrau is German for Field Gray, its a grayish/green color used in WWII by the Germans, VERY similar to the color in ACU.

I've been looking but haven't seen any good examples. Of the two ranger/foliage, which is darker?

The Foliage Green looks like Sage Green to me, i.e. just like a nomex flight suit.

The webbing on the ACU gear I have is a distinct gray green that in most light appears to be gray to the casual observer.
The ranger green I have seen is more like the AF Sage color and at first glance appears green. Foliage= Gray but on closer examination has a green to it Ranger= Green but on closer examination has a gray to it. That's my opinion anyway. |

Yes and no. Feldgrau was a standard color, but there where different variations depending on the manufacture of the paint, and the time period. In uniforms color depended on the wool blend. You can see wild variations in color from one unifrom to the next. |

I wish I had a camera. Brassburn's assessment of the color is correct.
I just got a pair of pouches from John Willis in Foliage Green. They're very grey-looking at first, but do have some green to them. |
