does anyone foresee ammo becoming permanently extremely high priced??

I'm thinking of selling some on the Gunborker frenzy that is occurring right now....but want to be able to purchase again later at reasonable prices....you think ammo will become available again and come down to @ 200$ for 762x39 and @250 -300$ for .223 ?

When this happened in 2008 (and this time is much worse), it took 12-15 months for the ammo situation to normalise as far as supply. Prices went down but never returned to pre panic levels.. I would recommend against selling ammo that you might need in the future...

It will calm down some. I was just at the W to see what they had. The gal had a list of stuff coming in tonight that she shared with us. Some 7.62 x 39 and some 40 SW. No 45 ACP or 9mm or 223 coming.

I know you need to train often but with the ammo situation I am looking into alternative training options... maybe airsoft and I almost puked when i said that...
Selling your ammo would be DUMB using your ammo for training is smart but the problem now is that you cant replace what you use. Unless you save your brass and reload but reloading will become a problem soon.

I talked to a Ammo Rep at  my local gun shop Fri. He told me to sale sale sale that it would be cheap again as soon as the fear subsided. Just his opinion

There will be boatloads.  I know of one point of origin packaging rounds that as of 2 weeks ago were destined to be a military contract delivery.  Yep, they were way ahead on the contract and were just waiting-on final packaging containers but then things changed.

I need to ride the gravy train to Gunborker financial freedom.  I've got a boat.

How many rounds would you recommend an average Joe keep on hand ?  vs selling to settle debt?

That's a mighty big gamble to take

Reloading is already a problem.  PowderValley was flat out of all powders until one day last week, they got some, and the best ones quickly sold out again.

Bullets are gone, gone, gone.   And primers too.

I think the prices will drop once all the panic dies down and the shelves get stocked again.

If you're sitting on 20k and shoot 500 rounds a year, sell some.

Now is the time (unless we're past the high water mark?) to sell excess items to fund future projects.  Look at the guys who turned $75 worth of PMAGs into 10/22 TDs, etc.

Well ammunition is always going up, the "good old days" will never return because even without a panic you have inflation, the rising prices of commodities as demand for them in other areas increases, and the environmentalists push for LFB.

Ammo never really goes down. As component prices and general cost of doing business goes up, so will their prices. 4 years ago I paid $13.47 for Federal bulk pack 22lr at Wal Mart. How much today? When you can get it - $19 - $20 bucks.

We just raised our price on Fed Estate .45acp at the shop to $29.99 for a box of 50. The expression on peoples faces when I told them the new price was just sad.
