If you were given the greenlight for a $1300-$1400 shopping spree, which rifle would you buy?

Don't pay any attention to the fact that as displayed the cost is:

$1100 for the rifle
$350 for the RAS
$100 for the rings
$50 for the base
$770 for the scope

I would buy an AR10 20" A2.....there is one on the EE for $945 from a good seller hg112.

All ready have a 20" and 24" AR10.  A carbine would be my only purchase from Armalite.  Don't own either a M1A or FAL.  Maybe I should edit the poll?

It ain't a Carbine, and it ain't a DSA... But the FAL is my choice in .308.

Currently, the ArmaLite carbine (AR15.com SEBR AR-10) can be bought for $1240 including shipping.  That includes the new slim profile SS triple lapped match barrel.  Since only about 200 will ever be made the gun is also virtually certain to become a collector's item.

There just ain't no better deal with this ArmaLite carbine available.

Actually not that impressed with the SEBR.  Stainless triple lapped barrel, what's the point when it's not floated, you will loose any accuracy gains, especially when you start hanging stuff on the rails.  No offense but it would have been better off with a chrome-lined barrel.  You can shoot mil-surplus stuff out of it and not worry about the barrel getting chewed up as opposed to the stainless.  No irons, so you need to put some decent optics or irons on it just to hit the target.  Minimum $1450 for it to be useful.

M1A Scout has the longest sight radius and has better sights than the FAL as a stock feature.  I could get into the M1A scout for $1450 which would include the scope package deal.  Sell the Springfield scope and buy an Aimpoint and forward mount it.  Now you are talking.

But Lighterfighters is having a intro special on DSA FALS.  For $1327 I can snag one of DSA new tactical carbines (looks bad as shit).  It all ready has iron sights, but the Picatinny rail is a $68.00 option.  The only real benifit for the FAL over the M1A and Armalite is the cost and availiblity of the mags.

The M1A Bush Rifle is a hell of a little gun. Very handy, and very accurate.

The response percentage to the poll was a bit different compared to the posts in this thread.

50% went for the Armalite
30% likes the DSA
and 20% favors the M1A.

Guess I am going to swim against the current and get the M1A.  Floated barrel, longest sight radius, best sight system, 18" barrel (faster muzzle velocity), chrome lined, dual optic platform (forward and read mounting).  I believe this to be the best deal.

Thanks to all that responded.
