That's my dilemma tonight.  I never shoot beyond 200 yards...but I've got all this 308 ammo sitting around....and I've got two AR's...only makes sense to have two AK's....

Help a brother out.

AK and FAL.

.308 is far more powerful than 7.62x39mm, no matter what range you are talking about.
In fact, if I could own only one rifle, the FAL would be preferable over the AK.

When you need to shoot at a target through other stuff, the .308 will oblige much better.

I agree 100% - I own and shoot all three on a regular basis, and I'll ALWAYS keep both an FAL and AK - but if forced, I'd get rid of my AR-15 before either of those... Get an FAL, Hokie - you'll be glad you did... As for distance, one thing to consider: 7.62x51(.308) will shoot through hard cover that'll laugh at 7.62x39 or 5.56x45 - so distance isn't the only thing to consider... Also, .308 is an excellent big game round...

other then my 10/22, the only two rifles i own are an AK and FAL. I consider both to be the most reliable firearms on the planet. they both have strengths and weaknesses that compliment each other. Together i believe they give me all the capabilities i need as a rifleman.

AK+FAL is a great combo.

if i had to choose one, i would choose the AK because it is the platform i am most familiar with.

I own 2 FAL's. Never been a fan of AK's. I tried one long ago and the horrible accuracy wasn't acceptable.

A good FAL over the AK anyday unless you're talking about a Galil. I know A Galil is'nt a "true" AK but I, like some put it in the AK category.

You don't have an AR, an AK and a FAL???

Get the AK and FAL since you already have the AR.  Then you will have the #1, 2, and 3 most widely issued rifles in the world.

You need at least two ARs, two AKs, and two FALs before you are a real person.

Get one of each before you go and get a 2nd of one.

I have 2 Aks.   FAL is usually mor expensive so I would get one of those first if you can afford it.

Get a .308 Ak, a second hand .308 Saiga shouldnt be too hard to find.

Or just get both AK and FAL.

Nah...if you're gonna be a bear, might as well be a grizzlaaaay!

I'll opt for the FAL!

What r u talkin about the ak isnt accurate? The ak is just as accurate as an ar for distances up to 150 yards

R U Nuts?

I love my AKs, but even my 30 year Colt SP1 will out shoot any AK. Period.

Ballistics for comparable Remington loads of 7.62x39mm and .308...apples and oranges. If you could only have one - definitely .308 IMO.

Have 2 ARs, 4 AKs and 3 FALs.  I like shooting the ARs and Aks, but I love shooting my FALs.
