Quick question. Found a NIB Winchester 94 Trails End case colored 20'' octogan in 25-35 Win. for $719. What's the 25-35 good for? I've never heard of it. Can someone fill me in? How hard to find ammo? Cost per round? Ballistics?

Thanks, Bob

LOCOBOB,
Winchester makes .25-35 Win.
Per a 2 year old copy of the Shooter's Bible 117 gr soft point. 2330 fps at the muzzle, 1292 lft lb.
100 yards 1866fps 904ft lb. 200yds 1545fps 620ft lb. 300yds 1282fps 427ft lb. 400 yds 1097fps 313 ft lb. It's 2" high at 100 yds and drops 70" at 400.
Natchez has .25-35 listed but not in stock. Around 26 bucks for  box.
I don't have any experience with this round. Also there is a .25-20 not a powerful. These are oldtime rounds. Maybe some of the SASS guys have used it.
Hope that helps.

BOBK48,
Thanks for the information. It does help. After reading your post, I thought it could be a good round to have around next year if Sen. Waterman gets his bill passed to allow leverguns made before 1899 and their reproductions to be used for deer hunting in Indiana.

I just got back from Gander Mountain with a Winchester model 94 case colored, 20" octagon 25-35 and 2 boxes of 117 gr. soft point. Don't know if I'll shoot it, though. I read on a thread on leverguns.com that a person called Winchester looking for one and was told that they built around 20 of these.

By the way. What did they charge you for the ammo? I want to see how much of a difference there was with natchez.
