Recently I was given by a friend what was explained to me as a "rusty, worthless old piece or crap" which turned out to be a 1959 .30-06 Winchester Model 70. A rusty piece of crap it was for sure but knowing what I had just scored free of charge I went to work. The action and barrell went to California and was refinished, I still cannot believe it but it looks brand new. I have replaced all the springs from Brownells and re-finished the stock. You'd be hard pressed to know that this wasn't a brand new rifle. Now that it is done, any idea how to headspace this thing? Any links to instructions? I am a semi auto guy and for anybody who hasn't rebuilt a bolt action....well I have found a new addiction, I love this thing. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

1---Was the BBL and Rec separated?
2---Was anything done to the chamber or shoulder?
3---Is the bolt original to this Rec/BBL?
4---Was anything done to Rec or bolt lugs?

If the only work that was done was refinishing you should only need to have the headspace checked with correct gauges.
