Loads in the published manuals are all over the place from 25.5 to 28 gr for max loads of 748 with 55gr bullets. I've been using 27.5gr of 748 with Win primers and mixed brass in two different rifles for a while now with no problems. Am I flirting with disaster? Both rifles are NATO 5.56 chamber, 1:9 AR's.....Thanks.B.

I've been to 27.5 of w748 with CCI #41's, Rem 7 1/2's, CCI 400's in mixed brass with win, horn, speer 55fmj's.

All of my preliminary testing was done with "military" brass. I now load mixed brass.

I've shot these in two of my rifles and a couple of others. I haven't tested the loads above 100 deg.

Elevation for testing ranges from 2600ft to 5000ft.

I settled on 27.0

26.5 for me in mixed brass.
Chrono'd 3120 fps from a 20" oly owned by some dude at the range that also had a chrono.

It has run beautifully in a total of 14 uppers owned by me and a few of my buddies.
11.5", 14.5", 16" and 20" lengths.
At 300 meters (not yards) it had an obviously but not substantially different POI from real M193.

Moderate pressure signs.
Commercial brass has gone about 4-8 reloads.
Military brass about 7-10 reloads.
Shot pretty clean too for shitty reloads.

I'd work up to 27 (or 3200 fps, whichever is first) if I still had a chrono and one huge lot of military brass.

I've been shooting 27.2 of 748 grains with 55's for years with CCI 400 primers LC brass with no ill effects at all....
