I want to use this setup with a red-dot but I don't know if the handguards will allow it. Any help here????

I have one of these on a Bushmaster carbine with a red dot mounted on it. There is enough of a gap between the bottom of the mount and the top of the stock handgaurds that it should work.
I put this mount on just to see if it was worth a damn and here's what I think of it.
After mounting it good and tight I have had no noticeable shift in point of impact.
The little accessory rails just got in the way so I scrapped them.
The rails on the portion of the mount above the carrying handle are a distractor when looking through the red dot sight so I plan to mill them off.
As of now it is doing its job well so I can't justify replacing with something that will cost five times as much.
