I know zero about levers and wheel guns.
Should i stick with HP and flat nosed lead type bullets in a
Lever action rifle? I'm shooting a Rossi RanchHand in 38/357.
The reason i ask is because i have some BALL 38spl and was not
Sure it would be safe to shoot in a lever action gun.
Thanks for any input.
Also, who has good prices on 38spl/357 mag in 1k bulk?

You need Flat-Point bullets exclusively in a lever-action due to the fact that the rounds are lined up nose to primer.  In a wheel-gun, it doesn't matter.

You'll enjoy that Rossi, it's a fun, handy little carbine.  If you're reloading, try Berry's Plated bullets.  Cheap and high quality.  If you need loaded ammo, Ammoman.com has good deals on .38 right now.

Be careful to ONLY load bullets that are listed for leaver guns in the reloading manual you use or death or serious injury may result.

I always hear the warning of using only flat points in lever action rifles, and I would never use any kind of pointed bullet in a lever action tubular magazine. However, if you look at factory 30-30 rounds you will find several manufacturers use round nose bullets in their ammo.  Remington also makes the 308 Marlin Express ammo with a 150 gr round nose bullet.  The round nose .38 Spcl has such a large radius I can not see how it would set off a primer.  I have Rossi's in 44 Mag and .45 Colt and have used hundreds of round nose bullets in both with no chain reactions.  For hunting I use large flat points exclusively in both, because the flat point pistol ammo hits hard and cuts a nice round hole through game.  If you have any concerns just use flat points and you will be pleased with the results.

Check the Lyman 49th Edition Reloading Handbook, as the Hornady 150 gr RN is covered.

Ftx.   Polymer tip.   Otherwise, flat nose hard cast lead is a great game bullet.

In my .44Mag Leverguns all I have ever used are various round nose flat points, semi wadcutters, or Hornady XTP-HPs
