Which tactical shotgun would you buy ,a Remington 1187 police or a Mossberg 9200A1? I allready have a Mossberg 590 pump but would like to upgrade to an autoloader.

How about before buying a shotgun, maybe you should get a dictionary.

I personally prefer the Mossberg.
You get a great shotgun and with the difference in price you can attend a class or buy ammo!

Normally I am not a spelling nazi, but the whole "witch/which" thing bugs me, specially in the title.

One factor in your decision might be that Mossberg has apparently discontinued the 9200 series.

They do have a new auto loader shotgun, but no defense models yet.

Since the 9200 is gone, getting parts and service might be a problem, and few if anyone made much in the way of accessories.

Parts, service, and accessories are plentiful for the Remington.

Frankly, I'm a little unsure about buying an auto shotgun from Mossberg.
They have no problems building suitable pump guns, but it seems every few years they come up with a new imported auto, sell it for a couple of years, then discontinue it.

I can remember the Howa made Model 1000 that S&W sold for a few years, the Model 712 they only sold for two years, the 5500, the 6000, the 9200, and now another new model.

I feel a little uncomfortable buying something that isn't going to be around for more than a few years.

I've owned both!

If I had to grab and go with one or the other, I'd take the Remington 11/87 Police

The Mossberg does work, but just has an overall "cheapo" feel and fit in my experience.

The Remington is more solid, (steel receiver vs. alloy in the Mossberg) and It has performed well provided it is fed proper semi-auto shogun shells!

Just asking, why "upgrade?" What advantage are you trying to get? The only thing I can think of is lower recoil.

If I were to consider an autoloader, it would be a Benelli.

Ahhh... am I the only one that knows the 9200s jam alot? I figured that that would have been brought up by now. I have never seen one that does not have problems.

I would go with the Remington in this case. I do like the Mossy pumps but not the autos.
